Blog #4: 35 Accents in the English Language

I came across this video and I thought it was neat. I've always found accents intriguing. This video is about this guy that speaks English but with 35 different accents. His accents aren't perfect and he states that in the first 15 seconds in the video. I loved his "transatlantic 1940's" accent and his "New York city / North Jersey" accent. I've tried doing accents before but they always come out like a mixture of English, Australian and the New York, which sounds not so good. It's crazy how so many people can speak the same language but with a different accent; all depending where one grows up.  So I definitely wanted to share this video with you all and hopefully you'll find it interesting as well!

  1. I have always wondered why one language can have so many different accents as part of it. I understand when English isn't the first language, but it is interesting that even in the United States there are so many different accents.

  2. I've always found it really funny how accents can also rub off. For example, my aunt is from Kentucky and after working for her I've noticed that I tend to pick up her accent when I'm talking. (I also have the same problem when I visit my sister for a few weeks in Kentucky!) But I totally agree with you! Accents are an intriguing topic, particularly since we have so many for one language!

  3. This was an interesting video to watch. It's really cool to hear so many different accents with the same language. I always try to speak in a different accent but it's so difficult because I'm just not used to making the different sounds when I talk but he was really good at it.

  4. I think it's cool when people can speak with different accents. What I think is more cool is that if I were to move to a place where there is an accent I would soon pick up on it too.

  5. I completely lost it at the Cantonese accent hahaha. That was so spot on, The Vietnamese and Mandarin were pretty good as well. Talk about a talented fellow. I thoroughly enjoyed this video though. Thanks for sharing
